Better than Ty Pennington

Q: Dear 'Your the best big brother' 100 Hour Board

How do you frame and remodel a basement?

Critchlow

A: Dear 'You'll grow up like me someday' little brother Critchlow,

Having a tough time with the basement? Moved into the mini-mansion and can't stand it not being finished? I offer you perfect advice.
  1. Take a photo of your current basement as is
  2. Develop the photos at the local 1 hour photo - or print it out yourself
  3. Buy an inexpensive photo frame
  4. Place the photo behind the glass, line up the mat
  5. Put the frame back together - viola - framed basement

If you want to remodel it, you have several options:

  • Buy it a sensible dress from J Crew and lay it on the floor
  • Apply for Next Top Model and let Tyra do her work
  • Ultimate help - Queer Eye for the Straight Basement
  • Apply for While you were out

Now if these are sufficiently helpful for you, the 100 Hour Board asks, why finish the basement? There are plenty of activities suitable for use in an unfinished basement:

  • Use it for roller hockey
  • Fill it with water and open windows and use it for ice hockey
  • If you're doing that, you can add curling and figure skating
  • Set up a giant train track
  • Roller derby
  • Use all 4 walls and floor for chalk drawings
  • Run a shoot house for the local SWAT team
  • Two Utah words: Meth Lab
  • Hydroponic tomatoes
  • Start a business to bury mob hits
  • Pour dirt on the floor and tell people you live in a home with dirt floors
  • Fill it with ball pit balls - and have fun
  • Glue foam on the walls and build a recording studio
  • Mount trampolines on every surface and go nuts
  • Use it to paint murals or graffiti
  • Paint the floor and walls like you are looking down from Sky City in Star wars
  • Build a miniature city and be your own king
  • Dig a swimming pool down there
  • Recreate Jabba's palace

If this still doesn't do it for you, try this.

Hope it helps.

I see once one enters a MBA program then the quality of all other aspects of life seem to dissipate. Sarcasm not appreciated. I was hoping the 100 Hour Board could pull some great websites or additional resources for me to turn to.
Not so lucky since the 100 hour board is more interested in self praise and sarcasm. I get one site. You are really losing credibility here.

I am really interested as you have completed the thing in your own house was hoping to gain some insights.

Although titling one resource as "Ultimate help - Queer Eye for the Straight Basement" was quite insightful and revealing about my own older brother.

Ok - bitter much?
The 100 Hour Board typically stands by the right answer it provides with no need to clould truth with fluff. There is no dissapation of of quality. The link provided should help you sufficiently advise you in directing your answers. If you that isn't enough, then I recommend that you hire in a contractor.

I enjoy Reed's help and invaluable expertise. I may not be a Jeff in scope of projects, but I can hold my own, thank you very much!
Critchlow, you can also rent out Jeff, he wanted to a little more travel anyway.

I don't rent out men...what is going on in NJ. I do appreciate the websites- but dude I saw pictures of the basement- it wasn't like that when I visited. You did something to it.

I guess you can only answer questions that you can find answers to on Wickipedia.

Ouch.
Actually - I answer all questions on my board. I find Wikipedia sometimes a good start - but references are always checked and dug deeper in to. Take a look at classic answers like: Keep the Doctor Away, Somebody was in trouble, A little bubbly actually is from multiple sources including "On Food and Cooking". And your husband's question regarding the basement obviously contains no answers from Wikipedia. Neither is "Just Hot Air" The 100 Hour Board is disappointed you do not see the value in the answers - but the 100 Hour is also not a link on your blog Chocolate Frogs, so no big deal. Neither is Potop 42.
